Radio Shropshire is continuing its series about Shropshire people during the First World War. Beginning on November 7th the stories will be broadcast at 8.15 each morning and repeated during the drive time programme – usually between 5 and 6 pm. The stories reveal many aspects of Shropshire life at this time. The next group will include:

Harper Adams and Louisa Jebb – the story of the ladies who drove the tractors

The Somme Tunnel – the Bog Mine job creation scheme

Edward Hotchkiss – Craven Arm’s first Aviator

Shrewsbury POW Camp and the secret post box

Cleobury Mortimer and postman Simon Evans

Genevieve Tudor has recorded some 20 stories and says it has been a privilege to be involved. If you have missed any or would like to listen again they are available at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01p350n
