Alan Brisbourne will be leading a walk around Church Stretton town. Meeting at the OLD railway station from where the town’s German waiters departed on their recall by the Kaiser. The walk will view the unique Belgian Refugee Memorial Gates at the Recreation Park, the local VAD hospital where many injured servicemen were nursed back to fitness, The Hotel, the parish War Memorial, Rectory Field, St Lawrence and Cunnery Road Cemetery. Alan will be giving the story about the contribution made by Strettonians at the time and how they supported their sons (and daughters) in this War to End Wars.
